These Herkimer beads graduate in size from approx. 4x5-6mm up to 5-6x12mm. Some of these Herkimer nuggets may have Hemitite inclusions (black spots) which is a common occurance and other inclusions or "milky" spots, so they will NOT be crystal clear.
Herkimer Diamonds are not diamonds but a class of Quartz crystal with unique properties. The name Diamond comes from the naturally brilliant look a Herkimer has in it natural state when mined. This crystal has a naturally occurring facet shape and is usually double terminated (has points at both ends). Found mainly in Herkimer, New York, they also come from the Himalayas and Afganistan.
