Wild Horse

Wild Horse is the trade name for a unique stone composed primarily of magnesite and hematite. It was discovered in the mid-1990s near the Globe Copper Mine in the Gila Wilderness area of southern Arizona and is found only in that region.

Mining operations were short-lived, and the material became increasingly scarce after the mine closed. As a result, much of the Wild Horse available today comes from previously collected stock and private collections.

Although it is sometimes referred to as "Wild Horse Turquoise," it is not turquoise. Its distinctive white and brown patterns, limited availability, and single-source origin have made it one of the most sought-after and collectible stones in the jewelry market.
